In another alarming incident in Malda, following the recent robbery in Habibpur, Harishchandrapur witnessed a goldsmith falling victim to an armed robbery on his way home after closing his shop.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Bizhat cemetery in the Kushida village panchayat area under Harishchandrapur police station. Kamal Thakur, a gold trader, was targeted by three robbers who stole jewelry and cash amounting to several lakhs of rupees, including two and a half bars of gold, 30 bars of silver, and 30,000 rupees.

Local sources indicate that the goldsmith was robbed at gunpoint while returning home from his gold shop at Tetuloch, located on the Bengal-Bihar border. The businessman is currently in police custody, and the Harishchandrapur police station is actively investigating the entire incident to apprehend the culprits responsible for the robbery.
